315 kilos of RDX seized in Srinagar

E-Mail this report to a friend

In a major breakthrough, troops seized 315 kilograms of deadly RDX in Srinagar while eight extremists, most of them foreigners, were killed in north Kashmir since Sunday evening.

Defence sources said on Monday that the RDX was recovered when troops, on a tip-off, raided a number of hideouts in the city's outskirts late on Sunday night.

The sources said the RDX was meant to be used for targeting important security force installations, government buildings and the convoys of security forces, senior politicians and officials in the city.

A report from Baramulla said troops killed four militants near the Line of Control at Lachira Bijhama early on Monday.

Official sources said troops also gunned down two militants each in two separate encounters in the frontier district of Kupwara. Some arms and ammunition, including two Kalashnikov rifles and two wireless sets, were recovered from the slain militants at Hygam.
