Kremlin backs India for slot in UN Security Council![]() Kremlin supports India's efforts towards becoming a permanent member of the United Nations Security Council. This was stated by Russian foreign affairs expert Yuri Filippov in his column 'Moscow Diary'. He aired Kremlin's stand at the session of the Indo-Russian Commission on Economic, Trade, Scientific and Technical Cooperation being held in New Delhi. He spoke of the ''international influence of the great country'' with a billion-strong people and one that occupies a strategic place in Asia. It must take part in tackling vital issues of world politics, says Filippov. Speaking about India and Russia's common stand on various international issues, the analyst noted that New Delhi clearly comprehends the need for waging an uncompromising war against terrorism and that it was lending moral and diplomatic support to Russia's determined bid to eradicate the evil in northern Caucasus.
