Message:Yes, it is certain that pak masterminded this hijacking. It is shame that so called USA policy or politics prevent USA from declaring Pak as terrorist nation.

Name:Vivek
Email:vivpr@hotmail.com
Message:its appalling to see messages that call for india to sponsor terrorism in pak. in a quid pro quo fashion. it is not the indian way of handling things, we dont resort to such tactics to settle the score. india is a land of krishna and gandhi, the combination of which advocates us to fight till the end but legitimately. while our crpf jawans and soldiers are getting killed, it is needless for us to play or watch cricket with country like pakistan. there are enough friendly nations in the world with whom we can better the ties through sports. experience has tought us that playing cricket with pak only hampers even whatever little regards we hold for that country governed by rogues.

Message:If we do and think like the terrorist what way are we different from them? I the sense of revenge, cold blooded killing by the government is a dagerous step. Once we go in this direction, we should not forget that we may be also be at the recieving end of such methods. We must act like a mature state, and deal with the problem in as diplomatic a way as possible. Killing in custody under the assumption of being a terrorist is not the solutions.

Message:Get over it guys. The US will not declare Pakistan a terrorist state for many reasons. 1) Their isn't enough evidence. The fact that the hijackers were Paki citizens does not prove that Paki Govt. was involved in this. 2) There is a strong lobby in the US that believes that Indian claim on Kashmir is not as legitimate as we Indians think. 3) India has historically opposed many stands the US has taken. Remember sucking up to the Soviets and condemning US operations in Iraq and Kosovo, etc. 4) India is not an important economic power in the world for the US to waste it's time. 5) Just because the US is suffering from the terrorist problem does not mean it has to agree with India on the Kahmir issue. 6) India (and not Pakistan) has always rejected any US mediation on the Kashmir matter. Why the hell should the US bother now? Go. Solve your problem yourself. All you can do is lick your wounds right now.

Message:India will face increasing assaults from within and without in the near future. I see a lot of rhetoric here at rediff but wonder if it will remain an extension of the abundant aarmchair rhetoric we see in india. The question we need to ask ourselves everyday is whether we did our part to make India a better place today. If we educate and energize we and ours as our life's mission, India can have a favorable feature after 20-30 years. What we see today is a natural outcome of the state of affairs over 20-30 years back or more.

Message:Reading the postings to this board one comes away with the following impressions: 1. There was not a single posting with any analysis - in fact not even an attempt to analyse the whole hijack incident. 2. The vast majority of readers give the distinct impression of being incapable of independant thinking or analysis - lending credibility to the common belief that the fundamentalist Hindu movement of the past decade is chauvinistic, fascist and unnecessarily jongoistic. 3. Most readers who posted to this board seemed to have a large brown bag over their heads with respect to their internal problems - the vast majority are either too afraid or too arrogant to think that the fundamentalists in power and the upper caste oligarchy continue to plunder the country's goodwill and good fortune. 4. The rest of the world does not swallow the bilge of the Indian media. 5. In begging the world community to declare Pakisan a terrorist state, the door has been opened for the International community to examine both sides of the question. Is it in fact true that Pakistan is a terrorist state or is it true that India as a state is terrorising the people of Indian-held Kashmir. An objective person is likely to vote for the latter, given that India has over 600,000 of its armed forces subjugating a small population which is in open revolt and that India has in fact killed over 75,000 Kashmiri freedom fighters in the last decade. 6. Those who dislike India - upon reading the views on this board - will be delighted. Delighted to see that the fascist mentality thrives more than the rational, that the spirit of questioning, rationalization and critical self-examination are not part of the vocabulary of educated Indians just as the word "maintenance" does not occur in Sanskrit. A country composed of such a tribe, will never rise beyond its petty self.

Message:Dear Rediff, Suppose Clinton takes pity on Vajpayee and declares Pakistan a Terrorist State. In response to that, Pakistan - not being a meek, naive and blind society like India - will surely increase its terrorism against India. What does Vajpayee propose to do then? Whom will he request next to declare Pakistan a Terrorist State, Mark-II ? Sincerely, N. Masilamani Mudali New York City, NY USA

Message:Dear Sir, Through this message board I would like to convey to the Indian Government that In retaliation to the recent Hijack, all the terrorist who are in Indian Jails should be Shot Dead. At least the 33 terrorist must be killed without any delay who were in the list of hijacker's demand. Thanks.

Message:There is need to be more aggresive while dealing with such crises, Why not Pakistan is been threaten at the first place before even talking to hijackers. When we know who are at the rout , they has to be strongly threaten. Why India should take so much time to blaim Pakistan for all this? Why can not our inteligence is smart enough that it could not even say who has done it, actually they are supposed to be smart enough that they should stop it before it happen.

Message:Forget Hijacking. Forget Bomb Blasts. Forget handing over three Militants. Its very high time that Government kill the remaining 33!! (If there are more fine...it won't be as bad as Latur Quake, or Oriisa Flood, or Kargil). I think we should stop blaming it on Pakistan/ISI for all bomb blasts. ther is no point. Bombay blast killed 300+ people. Coibatore blast 200 +, kargil 1000 + and of course Orissa flood 10000+. When Indians have the intelligence and power to capture 36 dreaded militants, why not shoot them. When innocents die, they have every right to die. Consider this as another natual calamity. Forget ethics, forget human rights, forget fair trial...if a terrorist is caught red handed, what other proofs you need? If India feels its a democratic country, it can't do that way...take my adivice: You have hundreds of options: 1. Confirm whether he/she is a terrorist. 2. If so do the following: a) Shoot them and burn them. don't tell you have captured them at all! (We are not interested in praising Indians efficiency in capturing militants. We don't like bull-shitting!!!). 3. If u have already told that so and so are captured, tell one lie that they had a jail brake out and escaped yesterday early morning (of course weeks after killing them...). 4. India's great Ethics - less EPICs like Ramayana and Mahabaratha also portrays killing the enemies for better world. After all, Lord Krishna's all Avatars were to save Human... 5. Its high time that you either kill them, or at least tell press that have escaped. 6. If India is so kind enough not to kill, at least tell u never captured and keep them in high security jails for life time. 7. Giving publicity for what u do really back fires. Don't tell anyone what u do! Do we Indians really think? Am

Message:I feel that there is no point to cry over spilled milk. What had been done was correct under the circumstance and no one could have taken the risk of storming the plane at Amritsar as any adverse result would have left the country devastated. What we should learn to do now is develop antihijacking methods to protect our people and airline. Another point I do not understand is what is the requirement of keeping these dangerous Pakistani nationals alive in our jail, feed them and spend money on their security. If it's for international image I feel India may well forget it as we have seen the world response- they show sympathy but no action. The best method and the only method that should be applied is shoot them as soon as they are caught- THATS THE ONLY SOLUTION.

Message:No India's demand for declaring pakistan a terrorist state is fully rational. It is as clear as crystal pakistan's hand in recent hijacking as well as the kargil criss. how long & how far are we going to tolerate this nonesense from pakistan. it is a high time that the world community takes a action against pakistan. there can be no better action other than declaring pakistan a terrorist state & freezing all help to pakistan. it would also mean isolation of pakistan. JAI HIND.

Message:To avoid such incidents in the future, the best and cheapest solution is to not arrest the militants but to execute them as soon as they are seen or caught. I would also like to remind myself that with the type of politicians that we have anything that requires ugly decisions to be made is not a possibility.

Name:Shantanu Soman

Message:It is very easy to say that the Indian government was weak in handling the Hijack crisis, but there was no other option. This certainly isn't the first time that militants were exchanged for hostages, even a powerful & gutsy country like Israel had to do it once. According to me, a Bill should be passed in the Parliament which will allow the security agencies to Shoot anyone who is even remotely connected to ISI or other terrorist organizations without going through the long legal procedures. We have to be ruthless while dealing with the terrorists. The So-called Human Rights Organizations also should keep their mouths shut in such cases; if the terrorists don't care about human rights then why should we think of the same while dealing with them?

Message:We don't have words about the agony of the Passengers in the flight 814.There is 100% proof of Pakistan and also Taliban's involvement in it. Instead of feeding this terrorists in the jail the Govt should execute them immediately after being caught without any delay. Why is the Government still dillydallying in this matter ?.

Name:AJ
Email:ajosel@yahoo.com
Message:I suggest once a terrorist is caught, if evidences are sufficient make the court procedures fast and hang him at the earliest. Because as long as he exists he is a threat to the whole society. And a new law to avoid exchange of terrorists for civilians.

Message:OUR WHOLE SYSTEM IS IN A MESS, IT IS GRADUALLY FALLING APART, THE POWER HUNGRY POLITICIANS PLAY WITH THE SENTIMENTS OUR PEOPLE, JUST TO MAINTAIN THEIR GRIP ON THE CHAIR. IT'S A PITY THAT A NATION OF 1 BILLION PEOPLE IS, A MILITARY MIGHT, AN INDUSTRIALLY ADVANCED COUNTRY IS SUCCUMBING TO THE PRESSURE APPLIED BY THE OUTSIDE FORCES. IT NEEDS LOT OF COURAGE & POLITICAL WILL TO FIGHT TERRORISM IN OUR COUNTRY AND UNFORTUNATELY INDIAN PEOPLE ARE SO SELF CENTRED & PREOCCUPIED WITH THEIR PETTY BENEFITS, THEY ARE LEAST INTERESTED IN PRESSURISING THE GOVT. TO TAKE DRASTIC STEPS TO ELIMINATE TERRORISM & CRIME FROM INDIAN SOIL. I RECOMMEND INDIAN GOVT. TO CARRY OUT BOMBING CAMPAIGN AGAINST ALL THE TRAINING CAMPS OF TERRORISTS, WHETHER ON INDIAN SOIL OR IN NEIGHBOURING COUNTRIES, INDIA'S INTEREST SHOULD BE KEPT FIRST AND SHOULD'NT BE AFRAID OF FACING A WAR WITH PAKISTAN OR TALIBAN, INFACT WE ARE ALREADY AT WAR WITH PAKISTAN SINCE INDEPENDENCE AND TRY TO RESOLVE THE MATTER ONCE & FOR ALL, NO MATTER WHATEVER SACRIFICES A NATION NEEDS TO MAKE TO SECURE A BETTER FUTURE FOR OUR COMING GENERATIONS.

Message:Our habit of looking up to USA for condemning the open acts of terrorism by Pakistan has to stop. We must take lessons from Isralies. Hit them where it hurts the most, without bothering about reactions of the other countries. It is we who are suffering and let it be very clear to everyone that no one is going to extend helping hand. It is high time that we target the terrorist camps, atleast in occupied Kashmir. I am very sure that this is the only solution to our woes in Kashmir. Out of our nincompoop politicians, who will bell the cat, that is the question?!!

Message:Our country is being run by a bunch of baboons. Instead of focussing on the real issue of listening to the people of Kashmir, they prefer to indulge themselves in their lost "fake" pride. And, of course, blame Pak for even their son's stomach flu. These old people of the Indo-Pak Partition era, currently in their 60s and 70s, have poisoned the minds of an entire new generation. These so called leaders want to make sure that even the next generation doesn't have chance of making peace in this region. Let go of your worthless, stupid pride. The land belongs to the Kashmiris. Let them decide their future. Disgusted South Asian. PS: On the positive side, the Indo-Pak bickering makes a nice freak show for the entertainment of the rest of the world.

Message:Military Govt. of Pakistan can carry out operations and disclaim due to negative publicity. It has openly admitted that it supports intelligence and promote such groups. Then, disclaim responsibilty. The case is clear...It is undeclare war by Pakistan and India is searching for a paper trail. It is time for India to attack terrorist camps regardless of border and resolve the kashmir issue without moving into next century.

Message:Hello, Namaste, aur Sat Sri Akal! Naiya Sal Mubarak!! I'm an Indian girl born in Canada and studying here but, I've been to India so much and I know a lot about India!! Well, I'm writing on behalf of declaring Pak a terrorist state. I feel that Pak does support terrorism and encourages these terrorists to do such acts. Personally, I have cousins and family members that are pilots, co pilots, politicians, and business people some which serve for India!! Pak is falsely accusing India of many things that which India hasn't contributed to. All 5 of these hijackers are of Pakistani nationals and India has enought evidence to back this up. If Pak cared so much about not being called a terrorist state then why don't they do something about these 5 hijackers???? Pak should have learned a lesson about the Kargil War. India is far more advanced than Pak. I'm becoming a Flight Engineer and I will be working for India!! Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani!! Thank you for your time!! Preeti.......:)

Message:Calling a spade, a spade does make sense. But merely calling names does not solve problems. Pakistan is "NAAPAK" (unholy)and we all know it. It hardly matters whether we call it a terrorist or rogue state. We have a problem on hand with a dirty neighbour. We should attempt to solve it rather than worry about giving titles.

Message:Case 1: US just has suspicion that Sudan was involved in the US embassy's bombing in Africa. US bombs Sudan and many innocent lives are lost. Case 2: India has pile of evidence (not suspicion like in Case 1) that Pakistan has played a key role in recent hijacking. The culprits have surfaced in Pakistan. But US needs more evidence before even declaring Pakistan as a terrorist state. Lesson 1: Unless direct US lives are lost, US does not pay any attention! Lesson 2: Why should India try to justify to US - they should take take their own retaliatory measures.

Message:This hijack is India's biggest defeat against Pakistan. This hijack is pre-planned game which is played by Pakistan with India, whole pakistan politcs is behind this hijack. But,if Indians want they can defuse this haijack like defusing a bomb, because "Unity is Power".If the men passengers tried they would have overcome those five hijackers because they are almost 15 times more than hijackers. Now,India should concentrate more on 'that this should not happen agian, besides giving this case CBI for investigation'.
