E-Mail this report to a friend

Pakistan President Rafiq Tarar has cautioned his country against signing the Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty in haste. He said a hasty decision in this regard could become a source of anguish for the country in future.

In an interview to The Nation, Tarar said the CTBT was an extremely important and serious issue that pertains not only to the defence of the country and the national security but also to the aspirations of the people.

The present government is aware of the seriousness of the issue and Chief Executive, General Pervez Musharraf had declared in clear terms that any decision on CTBT would be taken with national consensus, he said.
