ISI agents buying land in Assam, says minister

E-Mail this report to a friend

The Union Minister of State for Water Resources Bijaya Chakraborty Wednesday said that the Inter Services Intelligence of Pakistan had pumped huge amounts of money into Assam and bought land and property from the poor through their agents in the state.

The minister told mediapersons that encouraged by the ISI many minority community militants had started activities in the state which threatened the sovereignty and integrity of the country.

Chakraborty appealed to the religious minorities, especially the Bangladeshis who had acquired Indian citizenship, not to provide shelter and help to the ISI and the militants in the greater interests of the state and the country.

The minister also expressed concern over the reported statements of some leaders, especially that of the state's irrigation minister Abdul Mahim Mazumder, on communal lines and said that they should restrain from such comments.
