BSF inspector among 3 killed in J&K

E-Mail this report to a friend

An inspector of the Border Security Force and two militants were killed and five police personnel injured in Kashmir in the past 24 hours.

BSF Deputy Inspector General B N Kabu said that militants shot at and critically wounded Inspector Fateh Khan at Magam, about 20 km from Srinagar on Thursday afternoon.

He said a massive hunt had been launched to nab the culprits. An official spokesman said security forces killed two militants in an encounter during a search operation at Safapora on Wednesday night. Some arms and ammunition were also recovered from the militants, he said.

Meanwhile, work in the courts in the valley was paralysed on Thursday in response to a call given by the Jammu and Kashmir High Court Bar Association to protest against the alleged killings of undertrials by the state police task force in "fake" encounters.
