Centre accepts 25 recommendations of Kargil panelTara Shankar Sahay in New Delhi The government today accepted 25 recommendations made by the Kargil Review Committee whose report has brought out the deficiencies in India's security management. The government said it had "carefully considered" the recommendations of the three-member panel headed by National Security Council Convener K Subrahmanyam. The committee's report was to be tabled in Parliament today, but repeated adjournment of the Lok Sabha prevented that. Some of the recommendations fall in the category of acquisition of equipment like high-altitude UAVs, communication interception equipment and satellite imagery capability of international standards, apart from development of skills in encryption and decryption. Other recommendations mainly deal with improvements and initiatives in the field of intelligence gathering and analysis, manpower management, border management, and the structure of and interface between the defence ministry and the headquarters of the three services. The government indicated that after considering the recommendations, a thorough review of the country's national security system is also being ordered. RELATED REPORT:
