Message: Here is a great chance for the courts to step in and mete out exemplary punishment for the babus that run the country.

Awarding a punitive damage against the U.P and Central Government of say, 100 million dollars to the producers of Water will send a strong message to the ideological minded governments that they have been elected to provide protection for ALL schools of thought under the constitution, not just those of their constituency. Maybe then they will do their jobs. T Varadaraj

Message: This is utterly ruthless this RSS makes this affair . We in INDIA are very democratic and not as the fundamental Muslims who make lot of nonsense about their religion.

Message: Please leave Deepa Mehta alone. We have had a terrible cyclone in Orissa , and yet it feels so disgusting to find the names of three sick people everyday viz. Deepa Mehta , Shabana Azmi and Nandita Das. Our media and politicians have no consideration for poor people. It is only such useless issues that come into the picture. Who the hell cares about Deepa and her film? There are numerous producers like her who dish us garbage stuff in the name of Bollywood. Also, there are those never ending film stars bothering us with their film premieres and reviews. They think they belong to some elite class by speaking in English (although they earn their roti with Hindi). Our heroines are almost half open, half naked, no wonder when they open up completely. No wonder this is not India, India is only a heaven for rich, wealthy and spoilt brats and politicians.

Message: Deepa Mehta should not be allowed to shoot the film Water in any part of India. She must be stopped from ridiculing the Hindu religion in the garb of liberated thinking.

Message: The moment any Indian says any thing pro-hinduism He becomes a Hindu fundamentalist?? Wasn't India the first country to ban the "Satanic verses"?? That time no one talked of freedom of a creative person. Then why are we creating an issue out of people of Varanasi objecting on shooting of Water. How come questions like is Hinduism so fragile and how can a women challenge the basis of Hinduism are only asked to Hindus? How come no one ever challenges Islam? But in case of Islam we become secular, and not fundamentalist. What kind of a society image are we trying to create. One in which whatever a Hindu does to safeguard his religion is wrong. If a section of people are hurt by something, is it necessary to do it? What kind of a freedom of individual are we talking of?

Message: Hi All, I think India is a country of controversies. "Koi bhi kaam aaraam se nahin ho sakta", "jab tak koi panga na ho tab tak naa to kisi kaam me mazaa aataa hai, naa hi kisi ko chain padta hai". What I think there was no need for any objection over the making of this movie. I guess that it is a great script and we should have allowed Deepa to shoot this movie. Anyway it is a movie that will bring Shabana after a long time to screen. Nandita and Shabana have done great and brave 'preparations' for this. My Best Wishes are with the Film Shooting Team and other related people. Just because of these "pooja pandits" and other fellows I am kind of scared of visiting any of the place there, despite being very anxious to see them. Deepak Texas, USA

Message: I think people are right. Collectively if they revolt then it means something is very wrong with the shooting of WATER at the Ganges. Govt. gave OK. to shoot the film but one person in the office cannot decide what goes in the minds of the people. Govt. is for the people and by the people so people are right. I just wonder if we Indians can show this much force against corruption and issues like bribes by the politicians, Govt, servants, police force, water and electric shortage, bad roads , bad railway stations, buses and dirty streets. I think we can move the country in a positive direction. Why no one protest on this vital issues is beyond me but hope someone would start something like this so their plight can be heard.

Message: If any where in the world, hostility to national religious traditions are not fabricated political lies, it is India, where Digvijays (Water shooting), Mamtas (RSS bashing), Karunanidhis (RSS bashing), Laloos & Harkishan Singhs (Water shootings) and even president shamelessly display hostility towards Indian religious traditions. Do they realize that in 600 years of devastation only few Indian institutions have boldly emerged to stop the rot and restore back the full functioning of and contributions of true India? Longpole1

Message: Deepa's script might have something that is really objectionable but who is sangh parivar to be the judge. If they don't agree with the clearance given by their puppet govt, why do they keep them in power. Sangh has appointed themselves as the interpreters of our culture and traditions. If the govt can't stop them from this, it only clears them as loyal puppets. Sure, loyalty is a virtue.
