Ustad Alla Rakha passes away

Internationally acclaimed tabla maestro Ustad Alla Rakha Khan passed away in the wee hours of Thursday following a massive cardiac arrest.

He was 81 and is survived by three sons -- Ustad Zakir Hussain, Fazal and Taufik Quereshi -- and daughter Khurshida Quereshi.

Ustad Alla Rakha had been in a state of shock since Wednesday after he heard that his daughter Razia had passed away in London.

He suffered a massive cardiac arrest early this morning and died at 0330.
