Mullah do Pyaza's tomb in ruins

The tomb of Mullah do Pyaza, one of the nine gems of Mughal emperor Akbar, is in a shambles today.

Located in Handia on the outskirts of Hoshangabad in Madhya Pradesh, the tomb has been neglected by the archaeological department.

According to the district gazetteer of Hoshangabad, Mullah do Pyaza died in Handia.

Al Beruni's book Alberuni Ki Bharat Yatra corroborates this saying that Mullah do Pyaza, who had accompanied Akbar's army, died on his way to Hoshangabad.

The others gems at Akbar's court were Abdul Rahim Khankhana, Abul Fazl, Payugi, Tansen, Mansingh, Todarmal, Birbal and Hakim Hummam.

Ever since the Mughal era, the task of conserving the tomb was given to a local Muslim family but due to lack of support from the archaeological department it is in a state of neglect today.
