BSF foils Bangladeshi intrusion bid, 2 killedBorder Security Force personnel foiled an intrusion attempt by Bangladeshi soldiers in the Rajshahi sector and shot dead two intruders, BSF sources said in New Delhi today. Several other intruders were injured when BSF personnel opened fire after repeated warnings failed to deter the intruders. A senior BSF officer while confirming the incident, said the matter had, however, been sorted out after a border meeting between the officials of the two countries. There was no tension along the border, he added. He said the Bangladeshi soldiers were dressed partly in their uniforms. The incident was the latest in a series of border clashes between the two countries sharing a common border. Every year thousands of Bangladeshi refugees enter India illegally in the hope of a better living. While some of them are nabbed and sent back, most escape detection and settle in various parts of the country. Last week a Bangladeshi smuggler was shot dead by BSF personnel. UNI
