Unprovoked firing by Pak Rangers at Rajasthan border

Unprovoked firing by Pakistani Rangers across the international border in Karanpur sector of Bikaner district since early morning has created tension along the Indo-Pak border in Rajasthan.

According to Border Security Force sources, several Pakistani Rangers are believed to have been killed or wounded in return firing by the BSF jawans as the Rangers were seen removing their dead and injured. However, the exact number is not known. No loss of life was suffered by the BSF, the sources added.

According to information from the Ganganagar sector, Pakistani Rangers began firing at the Indian security forces near Harmukh border check post, when the BSF patrols objected to the Pakistanis' attempts to construct bunkers 150 metres from the international boundary. The exchange of firing continued in the afternoon.

BSF sources said that Pakistani Rangers had resorted to unprovoked firing near Nawabpura border post in Barmer district on September 1. They also attempted to push in two infiltrators across the border but their attempt was failed by the alert BSF jawans.
