VHP demands ban on conversionsThe Vishwa Hindu Parishad today demanded a total ban on all religious conversions and the inflow of foreign funds allegedly used for this purpose. VHP vice-president Sujit Dhar, addressing reporters in Guwahati, Assam, demanded strong action against the "vilification of Hindu gods and goddesses and insult to Hindu scriptures". The VHP's north-east region unit also submitted a memorandum to the Assam governor, Lieutenant General (retd) S K Sinha, demanding the setting up of an inquiry commission to look into the matter.
