NSCN-K to end hostilities

The National Socialist Council of Nagaland-Khaplang has announced the cessation of hostilities to enable the people of the state enter the new millennium with a ''hope for a better and peaceful world''.

NSCN-K chairman S S Khaplang said in a statement, ''The NSCN does hereby declare a cessation of hostilities to christen the new millennium with a hope for a better and a peaceful world.''

He said when the rest of the world was preparing for a new millennium, the Nagas must in no way suffer any suppressive activities from ''internal aggressors''.

However, the NSCN-K would not bow to any form of threat or aggression that might disturb peace, he added.
