Counting of votes begins in Dhubri

Counting of votes in the Dhubri parliamentary constituency in Assam began at 0800 hours today, official reports said.

The election was held on October 28 as it was earlier countermanded following the killing of Bharatiya Janata Party candidate Pannalal Oswal by suspected United Liberation Front of Asom militants.

Eight candidates were involved in the contest.

The result is expected late this evening.
