Jaya blasts media over reports on auditor's assault

E-Mail this report to a friend

Former Tamil Nadu chief minister and All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazagham general secretary J Jayalalitha today alleged that the media was forced to write 'mendacious' editorials linking her with the alleged assault on her former auditor R Rajsekhar on Saturday last, to malign her.

In a strongly-worded statement in Madras, Jayalalitha, referring to an editorial in an English daily castigating her for the alleged attack, said newspapers were being forced to reflect the personal bias of their proprietors who were friendly with the M Karunanidhi government.

"The frequency of the meetings with Karunanidhi by the proprietors and the chartered accountant-cum-conscience keeper of one such newspaper are well known," she claimed.

Jayalalitha charged that the allegations made in the editorial that she was "known to have once flung her footwear at a minister" were without basis and did not identify the imaginary individual or give details about the non-existent incident.

She alleged that in the past, some persons who had been removed by her from the party for 'good reasons' had made such charges against her.
