E-Mail this report to a friend

Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee has written to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi that the 19 Tamils who were earlier denied appointment in the accountant general's offices in Karnataka, have now been appointed there.

According to an official release, the letter had stated that the 19 Tamils had been appointed in various offices under the accountant general in Karnataka.

The 19 Tamils, who were selected by the Staff Selection Commission, were denied appointments in Karnataka by the Union ministry of personnel following an agitation in Karnataka against employing those who did not know Kannada in that state.

The prime minister's letter was in response to Karunanidhi's letter to him dated February 15 last.
