Community struggle burns four houses in TN village

E-Mail this report to a friend

Four houses were set on fire following a group clash between members of caste Hindus and adidravidas at Veppanthattai village near Perambalur in Tamil Nadu on Sunday night.

Police said the trouble started when a caste Hindu picked a quarrel with a petty shop owner in an adidravida colony. Soon people of both communities gathered and exchanged heated arguments. A little later an adidravida attacked a caste Hindu with a sickle. Following this, the latter's group set four houses ablaze in the colony.

Police said the situation was under control now. Additional security pickets have been posted in the village to avoid further trouble.
