Madurai to host meet on Lankan Tamils

E-Mail this report to a friend

A one-day conference in support of the cause of the Lankan Tamils will be held in Madurai on March 7, under the aegis of the Tamizhar Desiya Iyakkam.

Disclosing this to newsmen today, its president P Nedumaran said if the police denied permission for the conduct of the conference, he would approach the court.

Former Supreme Court judge V R Krishna Aiyer, Telugu Liberation Front leader Dr Mitra and former Tamil Nadu minister Panrutti Ramachandran were among those, who are expected to take part in the meet, he said.

Pointing out that former prime minister Indira Gandhi had objected to the interference of China, Britain and the United States in the internal affairs of Sri Lanka, Nedumaran said the BJP-led government should also adopt such a line.
