AIADMK-TRC relations touch new low

E-Mail this report to a friend

The strained relations between the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazagham and its erstwhile ally, the Tamizhaga Rajiv Congress led by Union Petroleum Minister Vazhapadi K Ramamurthy, touched a new low with the latter launching a tirade against AIADMK chief J Jayalalitha.

While Ramamurthy termed Jayalalitha as a political novice issuing foolish statements day in and day out, AIADMK deputy general secretary K Kalimuthu described the Union petroleum minister as a 'poisonous plant' to be weeded out from the state politics.

Ramamurthy, who had renewed his ties with the AIADMK during the last Lok Sabha elections, described Jayalalitha as an embodiment of arrogance.

The minister had levelled numerous charges against his friend-turned-foe, taking strong exception to her remark that the TRC was a one-man party.

He was addressing a marriage function in suburban Chenneerkuppam near Poonamallee on Sunday evening.

Meanwhile, irate AIADMK workers burnt an effigy of Ramamurthy at Tiruchirapalli on Monday morning to protest against his remarks about their party chief.
