HC refuses to delete Rajiv's name from chargesheet

E-Mail this report to a friend

The Delhi high court today said there was no merit in a petition of the Rajiv Gandhi Ekta Samiti seeking the deletion of the former prime minister's name from the chargesheet filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation in the Bofors payoff case.

Dismissing the organisation's petition, Justice Cyriac Joseph said the late Gandhi was accused of criminal conspiracy in the case and the CBI had only done its duty under section 173 of the Criminal Procedure Code.
