Ram temple ceremony peaceful

The Hindu Jagran Manch performed bhoomi pooja for a Ram temple at Halmodi village in Vyara taluka of Gujarat's Surat district this afternoon.

Official sources said the ceremony was peaceful. Despite heavy security arrangements, hundreds of HJM workers participated in the ceremony.

The ceremony was performed on a piece of land just 200 metres away from a tribal Chrisitian prayer hall.

The land belongs to one Ukabhai Kokani who alleged created tension in the area when he had returned to the Hindu fold after embracing Christianity.
