Pak building posts on border: Fernandes

Pakistan is building some underground posts and raised platforms on the border, Defence Minister George Fernandes said Wednesday.

The matter has been taken up with Pakistan Rangers, he said in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha.

The minister told the Lok Sabha that a decision on the purchase of advanced jet trainers for the Indian Air Force would be taken very soon and the evaluation of two trainers is in progress.

He denied serious defects had been detected in the engines of Sukhoi-30s imported from Russia.

Replying to another question, he said no proposal had been received from Russia for upgrading MiG-29 aircraft.
