Polls may not be held in June: FernandesUnion Defence Minister George Fernandes has said that the Election Commission's decision to hold an all-party meeting on May 3 had sent out definite signals that June elections have been virtually ruled out. The defence minister was reacting to an Election Commission announcement that it would discuss all matters connected with the holding of the Lok Sabha elections with representatives of all national and regional parties on May 3. Addressing the Confederation of Indian Industry in New Delhi yesterday, the defence minister, who is also the Samata Party president, said he had called on Chief Election Commissioner Manohar Singh Gill on Tuesday and made out a case for June elections.
