Veerappan strikes again!

E-Mail this report to a friend

Forest brigand Veerappan has kidnapped three Tamil Nadu forest personnel near Hogenakkal in Dharmapuri district, according to information received in Madras.

Reports said that a forest guard and two watchers were the ones missing.

This is the third incident of kidnapping by the brigand in the past two years.

It is not immediately known whether Veerappan had put forth any conditions for the release of the captives.

In 1997, the brigand had kidnapped two groups from Karnataka. He released them unharmed after prolonged negotiations with the Tamil Nadu and Karnataka governments.

He had also detained a journalist and a lawyer who went to meet him in the forest last year. They were also released unharmed subsequently.

Veerappan's demand for amnesty has been turned down by the state governments.
