JMM urges President to sack Rabri soon

The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (Soren) today urged President K R Narayanan to immediately accept the Centre's advice to dismiss the Bihar government.

JMM (Soren) vice-president Suraj Mandal said the president would "bring relief" to the state by doing so.

He said the people of Jharkhand were eagerly awaiting the presidential approval to celebrate it as "a mahaparva (great festival)".

Asked about the JMM's role after Rabri Devi's dismissal, Mandal refused to show his cards. He only said the JMM would like to be party to a secular coalition. He also said several Rashtriya Janata Dal legislators would leave the party as soon as President's rule was imposed.

Mandal urged Governor Sunder Singh Bhandari to restore the interim executive of the Jharkhand Area Autonomous Council till the creation of the new state.

He alleged that Chief Minister Rabri Devi had dissolved the executive because the JMM had withdrawn support to her government on the Jharkhand issue.

He also repeated his demand for an urgent special session of Parliament to pass the Bihar State Reorganisation Bill, 1998.
