Tohra again warns BJP on Udham Singh NagarShiromani Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee president and senior Akali Dal leader Gurcharan Singh Tohra yesterday said the inclusion of Udham Singh Nagar district in the proposed hill state of Uttaranchal would create a permanent epicentre of conflict and tension. Tohra said political sagacity demanded that unwilling people should not be forced to join the new state. Such a political adventure would prove costly, he warned. The Akali politician appealed to members of the Uttar Pradesh assembly not to vote for the inclusion of Udham Singh Nagar and Hardwar districts in the new state keeping in view the social harmony of the area. Tohra also criticised the Congress, accusing it of adopting a two-faced policy on Udham Singh Nagar. If the party is sincere, it should openly oppose any move for the district's inclusion in the new state, he said. UNI
