AIADMK ministers send legal notice to Tamil daily

Union ministers M Thambidurai and K R Janardhanam, representing the All India Anna DMK in the BJP-led coalition government at the Centre have sent a legal notice to Tamil daily Dinakaran seeking to express regret for publishing a news item which stated that the two leaders and four other AIADMK MPs would leave the party and join the Bharatiya Janata Party.

The notice said if the daily failed to publish an apology along with the notice within three days, the two ministers would take civil and criminal action against the paper.

The report, appearing in the August 27 issue, said AIADMK chief J Jayalalitha was unhappy with Thambidurai. It also stated that Janardhanam had told the prime minister that whatever he was doing was at the instance of Jayalalitha and that he himself was not happy about the same.

The notice said the two ministers were loyal members of the party and the news item was wholly false. "There is absolutely no truth in the allegations contained in your publication which are nothing but wild imaginations brought out by vested interests with a view to harm the reputation of my clients," it added.
