2 Pakistani soldiers killed in Siachen

E-Mail this report to a friend

Two Pakistani soldiers were killed and two or three were injured in retaliatory firing by Indian troops in the southern part of the Siachen glacier on Thursday evening.

A defence ministry spokesman said Indian troops resorted to "controlled retaliation" to unprovoked firing by Pakistani troops.

He said the bodies of the two slain soldiers were lying on the glacier for quite some time before Pakistani troops took them back to their post.

He said Indian troops did not suffer any casualty in the clash.

Pakistani troops have been trying to capture some important posts on the glacier for quite some time now. But each time alert Indian troops have frustrated their attempts.
