Another son of the soil
Ramesh Bais, the Bharatiya Janata Party Madhya Pradesh unit's
former vice-president, is a man of the soil.
An agriculturist, he was born on August 2, 1948,
in Raipur district. He was a Raipur municipal councillor from 1978 to
1983, and a member of the Madhya Pradesh
assembly from 1980 to 1985.
He has also served on different committees including
the public accounts committee and consultative committee under the
ministry of steel and mines. He was chairman of the Madhya Pradesh
Seeds and Farm Development Corporation from 1992 to 1993.
Bais was elected to the Lok Sabha in 1989. He served as MP
unit vice-president
for two terms, from 1989-90 and
1994-96. From 1993, he has been a member of the BJP national
executive.
Actively associated with organising health camps, Bais has
evinced a keen interest in rural development programmes
and sports
competitions.
