Cabinet expansion after trust vote, says Vajpayee
The Bharatiya Janata Party-led coalition government will be
expanded after Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee seeks a vote of confidence in the Lok Sabha.
Announcing this after being sworn-in as prime minister today,
Vajpayee told the media that he will prove his majority before
March 29, as desired by President K R Narayanan.
Replying to questions, he said he has ''a pledge to redeem and a
promise to fulfill. I am grateful to serve the people who have given my party a mandate.''
As regards economic reforms, Vajpayee said the reforms will be
'further reformed'. They have to be given a 'people's face'.
Asked about his priorities in governance, Vajpayee said these
had been outlined in the national agenda.
Later, the prime minister went to his office in South Block
where he was received by officials.
