Tara Bhandari elected deputy speaker in Rajasthan as opposition walks outAmid a boycott by the entire Opposition, Bharatiya Janata Party legislator Tara Bhandari was today elected unopposed deputy speaker of the Rajasthan assembly. Bhandari's name was proposed by Deputy Chief Minister Hari Shankar Bhabha and seconded by BJP chief whip Mahaveer Prasad Jain. Speaker Samarath Lal Meena declared her elected unopposed after a formal voice vote as the entire Opposition staged a boycott of the election. She is the first women to occupy the deputy speaker's post in the Rajasthan assembly. UNI
