Rasheeda leaves for MaldivesMaldivian national Mariam Rasheeda, absolved by the Supreme Court of any guilt in the sensational ISRO spy scandal case, left Thiruvananthapuram for her home country today after a 43-month-long ordeal. She left by an Air Maldives flight at 1.20 pm, along with a home department official from Maldives. There was tight security at the airport. Rasheeda told newsmen at the airport that she never thought she would be able to go back home so soon. She was greatly obliged to the press for helping in bringing out the truth, she said. "I am returning home on my second birth. My only happiness is the reunion with my only daughter after a gap of nearly four years,'' she added. Rasheeda said she had no ill-will towards anybody and all that she wanted was to thank the Supreme Court, the Kerala and the Union governments and the press. UNI |
