SC order, evidence of connivance between UF govt and Congress: BJP
The Bharatiya Janata Party says the Supreme Court's rejection
of the Central Bureau of Investigation's special leave petition is a direct
evidence of the connivance between the United Front government and the
Congress party.
Reacting to the Supreme Court's rejection of the CBI's SLP, Jaswant
Singh, deputy leader of the BJP in Parliament, said his party
has every reason to believe that the law ministry was not inclined
to permit such a petition being moved.
For the CBI which had done so despite reservations it was clearly
and only because the United Front is under political obligation
to the Congress, Singh alleged.
"Their protestations of fighting corruption have thus been rejected
in a court in the very first attempt. Notwithstanding the denial
by the prime minister, we would still caution this government
that this is a extremely, slippery slope," the former finance minister added.
"Even now we caution, warn and we demand that the CBI now no longer
acts selectively and that as directed by the high court, all needful
is done with utmost sense of urgency," he emphasised.
