CBI delaying hearing of Advani's hawala case, charges BJP

The Bharatiya Janata Party has charged the Central Bureau of Investigation with using the Jain bothers as "a convenient instrument" for seeking adjournments in the hawala case against party president L K Advani.

In a statement issued in New Delhi on Thursday, party spokesman K R Malkani, MP, said the BJP and Advani have been repeatedly requesting the special judge trying the hawala cases to "hear and decide the issue of framing the charges against Shri L K Advani".

"On the last six hearings the Jains have been used by the CBI as a convenient instrument for seeking adjournments on the ground that the CBI has not given copies of documents to the Jains."

"The CBI-Jain combine, at the behest of the powers that be, is succeeding in deferring a decision on Shri Advani's application till after the elections," it said and added that "obvious" relationships between Rao and the Jains involved in the hawala case, "has thus become doubly clear".
