Revealed! Anil Kapoor's fitness secrets at 60

Here's how Anil Kapoor gets it right at 60.

If there is one Indian actor who seems to have discovered that elusive fountain of youth, it is Anil Kapoor.

'You owe it to your body to treat it well,' says the actor, who turns 60 today, December 24.

'You take so much advantage of your body. You eat, drink, sleep, smile, travel, talk, have sex -- you use this body for everything. Then why not look after it so that you can use it longer? This is what I believe in.'

Kapoor's co workers vouch for his dedication.

According to actress Shefali Shah, his Dil Dhadakne Do co-star, 'He must have been the most dedicated of the entire lot on the ship. We were all partying, but he stuck to his regime. He would shoot, work out, eat his diet food and go to bed.'

He leaves even an actor like Ranveer Singh, with his over-the-top energy, awed: 'I hope I can have the same kind of drive and passion when I am at that stage. He is disciplined about what he eats, even if we're rolling at 5 in the morning. He will get up at quarter to four to do his cardio so his face looks fresh in front of the camera.'

1. Staying healthy and fit is just a matter of discipline.

2. I have a diet regime. I eat rice, but it depends how much, how it is cooked and what type of rice it is.

I never touch samosas. But I love the crust. I don't have the filling. People say I look like a samosa without the filling!

I've worked hard to stay slim. I've never been a red meat eater. I eat carefully, but I do indulge myself (sometimes).

One has to give up some pleasures to achieve what one wants to.

3. You need the right people around you, with good habits, as people with bad habits influence you, so if they tend to overeat, you also do it.

When I see Salman Khan and how hard he works on his body, I want to work harder on my body.

Look at how hard Hrithik Roshan and Ranbir work.

4. I sleep well -- that is very important because lack of sleep bloats you, and stress is not good.

5. Positivity has always been my mantra for existence.

I had the good fortune of meeting the Dalai Lama. I felt so cleansed!

Just listening to him is an enriching experience. He said how you feel and choose to live is all up to you.

If you lie to yourself and to others, you're bound to be unhealthy.
