Raamlaxman's TOP 10 SONGS

May 25, 2021 17:24 IST

Raamlaxman's musical collaboration with Salman Khan was pure gold.

In the early years, Raamlaxman (whose real name was Vijay Patil) made many chartbusters with Mithun Chakraborty.

Joginder Tuteja looks at his top 10 hits.

Taraana

Raamlaxman made chartbuster music for Taraana.

Starring Mithun and Ranjeeta, who were doing quite a few films then, some of the hit songs are Gunche Lage Hain Kehne, Hum Tum Dono, Sultana Mera Naam Hai Sultana and Meri Dilruba Tujhko Aana Padega.

Shailendra Singh and Usha Mangeshkar made sure that the songs are remembered till date.

Hum Se Badkar Kaun

The most popular Ganpati song has been Deva Ho Deva, Ganpati Deva from yet another Mithun and Ranjeeta starrer, Hum Se Badkar Kaun.

Everyone from Asha Bhosle, Mohammed Rafi, Bhupinder Singh, Shailendra Singh to Sapan Chakraborty came together here.

Ustadi Ustad Se

Before the release of Mithun's Pyaar Jhukta Nahi, one of his biggest chartbusters was in Ustadi Ustad Se.

This film saw him with Ranjeeta once again, as well as Vinod Mehra.

Listen to the song Saathi Tere Naam Ek Din Jeevan Kar Jayenge by Asha Bhosle, Usha Mangeshkar and Bhupinder Singh and you will fall in love.

Bezubaan

In the 1980s, when Shashi Kapoor was making some of his final films as leading man, he starred in Bezubaan.

A tale set to the tune of Love Sex Aur Dhokha with Naseeruddin Shah blackmailing Reena Roy, the film is also remembered for its beautiful melody Tere Jaisa Koi Khoobsurat which was sung by Kishore Kumar.

Deewana Tere Naam Ka

Raamlaxman, of course, continued to make hit music for Mithun Chakraborty.

This time around, the leading lady was Vijayta Pandit.

Singer Shabbir Kumar came up with a chartbuster track, Deewana Tere Naam Ka.

Police Public

Lata Mangeshkar and Amit Kumar sang a beautiful romantic song, Main Jis Din Bhula Doon Tera Pyar Dil Se in Police Public.

100 Days

In the post-Maine Pyaar Kiya days, Raamlaxman made music for Jackie Shroff in Sun Beliya, Shukriya Meharbaani, where S P Balasubrahmanyam and Lata Mangeshkar came together.

There was Gabbar Singh Yeh Kehkar Gaya by Amit Kumar and Alka Yagnik.

Saatwan Aasman

Pooja Bhatt-Vivek Mushran's Saatwan Aasman was a big flop.

But songs like Tum Kya Mile Jaaneja Pyar and Dhire Chal Dhire Dhire became hits even before the film's release.

The song that has caught on even with the current generation is Raaton Ko Jaag Kar by Preeti Uttam Singh and Ghansham Vaswani.

Muskurahat

Chances are, you will not remember the Jay Mehta, Revathi and Amrish Puri-starrer Muskurahat, which was one of the first Hindi films by Director Priyadarshan in Bollywood.

But one of the songs from the film, Gun Gun Karta Aaya Bhanwra remains a favourite even three decades down the line.

Kumar Sanu and Sadhana Sargam did well here.

Pathreela Raasta

Dimple Kapadia plays a vamp in this film, which you probably wouldn't remember.

The song Aag Laga Ke Chale Ho Kaha was quite popular.

Kumar Sanu and Alka Yagnik were in great form for this film which launched Divya Kumar as a hero (he wasn't seen again after this) alongside Varsha Usgaonkar.
