Just how much money has Ayushmann's movies made?

November 20, 2019 14:56 IST

Ayushmann Khurranna is riding the success wave with Bala being his seventh consecutive hit.

If his movie choices continue being as good as they are, he'll be belting out his 10th hit in just a few months.

Joginder Tuteja looks at just how much money Ayushmann's recent movies have made.

Bala
Box office collection: Rs 120 crore (expected)

Thanks to its unique story and good execution, Bala joins the Rs 100 crore club.

Who knew that a movie featuring a bald hero would work so well?

Dream Girl
Box office collection: Rs 142.26 crore

With a knack of choosing contrasting roles, Ayushmann plays a guy, who turns out to be a 'dream girl' for the men out there.

His biggest money spinner till date, the Ekta Kapoor production sees writer Raaj Shaandilyaa make his debut as a director.

Article 15
Box office collection: Rs 65.45 crore

Article 15 features Ayushmann as a no-nonsense cop dealing with caste-based politics using his mind and conscience, instead of his fist.

The Anubhav Sinha directed film, which wrapped a social message beautifully in its story, was a good success story earlier this year.

Badhaai Ho
Box office collection: Rs 138 crore

Ayushmann Khurranna's first film to join the Rs 100 crore club, Badhaai Ho featured Neena Gupta and Gajraj Rao in key roles.

The young actor did not mind being a part of an ensemble cast in a film that provided a novel story to audiences.

And they sure liked it.

Andhadhun
Box office collection: Rs 75.60 crore

Rarely does a film open at Rs 2.70 crore and then earn almost 30 times that amount in its lifetime run.

Sriram Raghavan's murder thriller saw Ayushmann play a blind man, who wasn't actually blind.

The film had a solid supporting cast in Tabu, Radhika Apte and Anil Dhawan.

Shubh Mangal Saavdhan
Box office collection: Rs 43.11 crore

Ayushmann is brave enough to take up films on varied topics, as long as they tell a good story.

Among them is Shubh Mangal Saavdhan, where his character suffers from erectile dysfunction.

Despite the theme of the film, family audiences made sure to watch it.

Bareilly Ki Barfi
Box office collection: Rs 34.55 crore

The film that started Ayushmann's hit run at the box office was Bareilly Ki Barfi, a love triangle with Kriti Sanon and Rajkummar Rao.

Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari's delightful film was a romcom that re-introduced the actor to the audience after his Meri Pyaari Bindu didn't do well at the box office.

There was no looking back after this.

Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan, releasing on February 21, will see him play a gay character.

Since this is an Aanand L Rai production, a marriage seems to be in the making.

Ayushmann's hit run may continue with his Vicky Donor director Shoojit Sircar's Gulabo Sitabo, which co-stars Amitabh Bachchan.
