COMING UP: June movie releases

June has arrived and it's time for Bollywood's Bhai to take centrestage. Yes, Salman's mega Eid release, Bharat, is on its way to the theatres.

In the mix of masala flicks that will release this month, there is a serious Ayushmann Khurrana movie as well!

 

Bharat

Director: Ali Abbas Zafar
Cast: Salman Khan, Katrina Kaif, Disha Patani, Sunil Grover, Tabu, Jackie Shroff and Sonali Kulkarni
Release Date: June 5

What’s it about: A remake of the South Korean film, Ode To My Father, Bharat traces the journey of a man in post-Independence India.

After Partition, Bharat's father stays back in Pakistan because (if Bharat stays true to Ode To My Father) one of his children goes missing.

He sends the rest of his family to India and asks his eight-year-old son to keep everyone together.

How Bharat does this, from the age of 18 to the age of 70, forms the crux of the story.

 

Khamoshi

Director: Chakri Toleti
Cast: Prabhu Deva and Tamannah Bhatia
Release Date: June 14

What’s it about: Khamoshi is a suspense thriller about a deaf and mute girl who has to fight for her survival when a killer arrives at her doorstep.

It’s a remake of the 2016 Hollywood film Hush.


One Day: Justice Delivered

Director: Ashok K Nanda
Cast: Anupam Kher and Esha Gupta
Release Date: June 14

What’s it about: A CBI officer investigates the disappearance of several high profile individuals.


Kabir Singh

Director: Sandeep Vanga
Cast: Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani
Release Date: June 21

What’s it about: Kabir Singh is the remake of the Telugu blockbuster, Arjun Reddy.

Its protagonist is a surgeon, who goes into self-destruction mode after the love of his life marries someone else.


Article 15

Director: Anubhav Sinha
Cast: Ayushmann Khurrana, Isha Talwar, Sayani Gupta, Kumud Mishra and Manoj Pahwa
Release Date: June 28

What’s it about: Taking inspiration from true life events, this crime thriller is based on Article 15 of the Indian Constitution, which doesn’t allow discrimination on the basis of caste, religion, race, sex and place of birth.
