It wasn't the first film that was considered to launch these star kids. Multiple directors and scripts were being sought for Abhishek's launch while Kareena had already shot for a few days for Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai.

Though Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone led the cast of Happy New Year, Abhishek had a substantial part to play.
He had a double role of a comical bad guy as well as a member of the dance troupe.
In this masala set up by Farah Khan, Abhishek brought on some good comic timing.
Housefull 3
Box office collections: Rs 109 crore
Abhishek has done quite a few light-hearted films in his career.
Housefull 3 was a mad comic affair where Abhishek joined the original cast of Akshay Kumar and Riteish Deshmukh.
Audiences gave their approval as well to this Sajid Nadiadwala franchise and the film went on to be a comfortable Rs 100 crore hit.
Bol Bachchan
Box office collections: Rs 103 crore
Inspired by Amol Palekar's Golmaal, this Rohit Shetty comedy had Abhishek playing a double role of sorts, like in the original.
Ajay Devgn featured in this laugh riot which went on to score a century at the box office.
Dostana
Box office collections: Rs 50 crore
This was the time when Abhishek enjoyed success experimenting across genres.
Karan Johar's Dostana was a feel good bromance with Abhishek and John Abraham, with Priyanka Chopra completing the love triangle.
Guru
Box office collection: Rs 45 crore
Guru features one of Abhishek's best performances.
With Mani Ratnam as the director, Abhishek played the part of Dhirubhai Ambani in this unofficial biopic which had everything going in its favour, right from the storytelling to the performances.
Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna
Box office collections: Rs 45 crore
A modern day take on Yash Chopra's Silsila, Karan Johar's version had a glossy feel to it as well as all the drama in the right proportions.
Abhishek was in good form, as he went from being a happy soul to seeing his marriage to Rani Mukerji fall apart.
Sarkar

Box office collections: Rs 35 crore
Ram Gopal Varma brought out Abhishek's intense side to the fullest in the Sarkar series.
Even though Amitabh Bachchan led the show, Abhishek enjoyed his place under the sun. Both films did decently.
Bunty Aur Babli

Abhishek's biggest solo starrer till date is Bunty Aur Babli, which ensured that the actor's fortunes rose high after its release.
Strangely, he opted out of Bunty Aur Babli 2 and Saif Ali Khan will partner Rani Mukherji in the sequel.
Paa

Abhishek has shared screen with his father in a few films.
Paa saw a reversal in their real life roles as Abhishek played daddy to the Big B.
The film remains R Balki's most sensitive film till date.
Dus

Yet another multi-starrer, Dus was a stylish action entertainer by Anubhav Sinha where Abhishek seemed to enjoy his presence in the frame.
The way he grooved to the chartbuster track Dus Bahane is remembered till date.
