Anarkali is back to claim her love, this time in a Kannada film. The film was launched with a play, and it is no longer just the tragic love story of Mughal prince Salim and Anarkali.
If royalty was the villain in the original, Anarkali has a woman for a rival this time. This time, though, the courtesan is in no mood to sacrifice her love.
Rakesh Jain is producing the film, while Sadhu Kokila, famous for his comic acts and music compositions, will once again don the director's cap. It remains to be seen if he will act as well.
Diganth, Pragnya and Ramya Barne are in the lead.
Actor Upendra and Telugu comedian Ali dropped in for the mahurat, too.

Get ready for the dark side of popular Kannada comedian Mandya Ramesh. He is ready to debut in a bad boy avatar on television, with the serial Chi Sow Savithri.
"I play Parashu and am pitted opposite (film star) Jai Jagdesh. The character has theatrical shades and that's what I like about it. Also I recently received an award for this performance," says Ramesh, a veteran of 135 films and 10 serials.
The actor, who counts "Nana Patekar and down South, the late Raghuvaran," as his favorite film baddies, is non-committal about playing a villain in films, too. "Such an offer is yet to come my way; let's see when it does," he says.
