Veena Malik: Relationships don't last because I'm a freak

Bollywood sex siren Veena Malik's film Daal Mein Kuch Kaala bombed at the box office last week but the actress is not upset because she claims she got paid well.

Her television serial Veena Ka Vivaah also did not take off, as the concerned channel Imagine TV shut down abruptly.

What made you sign a low budget movie like Daal Mein Kuch Kaala Hai?

I got paid really well! I don't think it is a low budget film. The star cast was very nice, the story line was interesting.

I joined the project because of the team involved in the making of the film. I was treated very well. Before signing a film, you don't know its destiny. I enjoyed working on the film and am happy to be a part of it.

Doesn't it upset you that the movie did not do well?

No, why should it? It is not necessary that every film should be a blockbuster.

I am happy that I made my debut in Bollywood. I worked hard on it I have given it my hundred percent. It doesn't matter that the movie did not work, Veena Malik is still working, right?

'I am not dating my director'

There is talk that you are dating your director Hemant Madhukar. There are so many pictures of you together. Is it a publicity stunt?

I am not dating him. He is a good friend like so many other friends. My PR is not sending any pictures. Why would I send my personal pictures to anybody? It is such a shame that people click your pictures and mail them.

I have my professional life and I have my personal life. I meet people, I mingle around with people who are good friends and with whom I work and I go out for dinners too.

People click my pictures and mail them. I don't do it. Why should I do that when I am already famous?

You have to understand that when you are a celebrity all this is part and partial of the trade. I do get upset about all this but I can't help it. It is a sad thing that happens in this industry.

Your television career did not take off with Veena Ka Vivaah, so what now?

It did not take off because Imagine TV shut down, but I believe that everything happens for a reason. I am happy that it did not happen otherwise I would be married by now!

We celebrate when something good happens and complain when bad happens but I am not that type of a person. I am happy when I am busy. I am a great believer in destiny.

What is the progress on the Kannada remake of The Dirty Picture?

I am in Bangalore shooting for The Dirty Picture. People in the Kannada industry are far more professional than people in Bollywood. Like right now we are shooting for the film and it is simultaneously edited on the sets. I have not seen that in Bollywood yet.

They are very punctual and they are very particular they don't compromise on anything. They are not shooting on sets but on real locations. It is amazing to be part of the Kannada industry and I am looking forward to working in Tamil and Telugu films.

Being a Pakistani, do you have any problems in India? Are you treated differently?

People in India love me; they have treated me differently. People who meet me every day like me. Most of the time I feel that people probably forget that I am Pakistani, they behave as though I belong to them and I belong here.

People here truly love me. Nobody in India has ever told me in person that we don't like you. In fact they all love me and that is the biggest reason that I am here and working.

You seem to be comfortable going topless or without clothes...

I have never posed topless. Only once my morphed picture appeared on the cover of FHM and I have sent them a notice and my case is in court.

I have never posed nude. I have never stripped in my life.

There are so many videos of me kissing and nude but they are all doctored. I have never done anything like that.

Have you sorted out difference with your father?

Yes, long back. Parents and children can't have differences for long. It is okay we don't agree on so many things but of course he loves me. I explained to my father that I never posed nude and it was a morphed image and he understood. It is shameful for those who do it.

No, we are not friends anymore. I don't know what he is up to. We don't talk. I don't have his number and may be he doesn't have mine too.

In one of your interviews with us you said your relationships don't last. Why? Are you ready to marry now?

I am not ready to marry right now. I don't have time. Yes, my relationships don't last because I am such a freak. I am such a spoilt brat.

It is very difficult to handle me. I have mood swings. I have sleep and eating disorders. I am so anxious at times that I get panic attacks.

I am not an organised person at all. I need somebody to take care of me all the time; I am a full time job for anybody since I am like a kid.

I don't think this could be the reason of my break-up; the reason for my break-up is I can't take cheating. He should have money and a brilliant body. But the fact is I have never been single all my life, I have always been in a relationship.

You have never been married right?

No. I run away from marriage. The fourth time Imagine TV closed down, but thrice I ran away.

The first time my father arranged my marriage at the age of 14 with my cousin. Though I was very much in love with my cousin, I ran away because I did not want to marry him.

The second time it was a love marriage but the boy was not loyal.

The third was arranged by my father; he was the son of my father's friend. The day before the wedding I flew to UK without telling anyone.

'If I am too hot for TV they will show my shows late at night'

Any television assignments? Won't you be too hot for television?

In 2013, people will see me on TV. If I am too hot for TV, they will show my shows late at night.

Apart from Dirty Picture what are you doing?

I am working in Mumbai. 125 KMS is almost ready; some patch work and promotional song has to be shot.

Then there is Zindagi 50-50 that also has some patch work to be done. Super Model is seventy percent completed.

I am taking my singing career seriously. I am already working on my music track, and soon I will have a music video and will launch my singing career.
