What's on TV after IPL?

The Indian Premier League (IPL) 3's monopoly on prime time television is finally over for the year, making way for a series of new shows.

First, a look at the reality shows coming your way (watch this space for the upcoming serials): 

Indian Idol 5

Channel: Sony Entertainment Television
Status: Started on April 26
Timing: Monday to Thursday, 9 pm

Indian Idol 5 is back and is being judged by Anu Malik, Sunidhi Chauhan and Salim Merchant. The hosts for the audition rounds are Indian Idol 1 winner Abhijeet Sawant and fellow contender Prajakta Shukre.

The theatre and gala rounds will be anchored by Hussain Kuwajerwala and Sawant.

Chak Dhoom Dhoom

Channel: Colors
Status: Started on April 30
Timing: Friday and Saturday, 9 pm

On this show children from five to 14 years will compete for the title of Best Junior Dancing Star. The show is expected to last 16 weeks.

Choreographers Saroj Khan and Ahmed Khan and actor Vindu Dara Singh, who are the judges, are short listing candidates through nationwide auditions.

Choreographers Bosco and Ceaser will mentor the contenders, while child comedian Saloni Daini and Bigg Boss 3 finalist Pravesh Rana will host the show.

Dance India Dance Little Master

Status: Started on April 30
Timing: Friday, 9.30 pm

Dance India Dance has now ventured into showcasing kiddie dancers. The judges include choreographer-turned-director Farah Khan and dance expert Sandip Soparrkar.

The show will have 16 child dancers picked from across the country showing their moves for the "Golden Super Wings."

Zara Nachke Dikha 2

Channel: Star Plus
Status: Started on May 1
Timing: Saturday and Sunday, 9 pm

It's the age-old battle of the sexes revisited.

Nine female and male actors from the television fraternity fight to establish their superiority with their dancing on the show judged by actors Shilpa Shetty and Arshad Warsi and choreographer Vaibhavi Merchant.

Desi Girl

Status: Starting on May 21
Timing: Friday to Sunday, 9 pm

The show will have eight starlets -- Sambhavna Seth, Kashmera Shah, Roshni Chopra, Monica Bedi, Anmol Singh, Rucha Gujarati, Ishitta Arun and Aushima Sawhney all vying for the Desi Girl tag.

The city girls will be required to live in a Punjab village and perform tasks ranging from washing clothes and milking cows to making cow dung patties and bathing cattle.

Dus Ka Dum 3

Status: Starting on September 4

With the announcement for the third season being made by Salman Khan on Twitter, Dus Ka Dum 3 promises to be even more exciting than the earlier seasons.

The show will start after Indian Idol. Even though the format is still being discussed, the basics are expected to stay the same.

Rumour has it that Salman will be paid much more than the whopping amount he was given last year.

Raaz Pichle Janam Ka 2

Status: Staring in June

The second season of the past life regression reality show is in the works and is expected to go on air next month.

Channel: Imagine

The channel has reportedly short listed one cricketer, two male actors and one female actor for the third season, which is expected to air around Diwali.

Khatron Ke Khiladi 3

Channel: Colors

Priyanka Chopra will take over from Akshay Kumar as the host in the adventure show's third season. Season 2 was dangerous and the stunts far from appealing.

This time, the shoot is set to take place in Brazil, and the contestants will be cricketers, not hot women. The shooting commences in July.

Bigg Boss 4

Channel: Colors

The fourth season is expected to flag off with bigger names. Amitabh Bachchan may stay on in his pop philosopher-host avataar.

India's Got Talent 2

Channel: Colors

The audition campaign is already on air. Ayushmann Khurana and Nikhil Chinappa will once again host the show.

Boogie Woogie

India television's original reality dance show will make a comeback with a championship for seven to 12 year olds. Jaaved Jaffery, Naved Jaffery and Ravi Behl will, as usual, be the judges.

Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 4

Season 4 of the dance reality show will come back with new celebrities on a more competitive stage.
