Meet the Bigg Boss Bangla contestants

Popular reality show Bigg Boss now has a new edition in Bengali.

Kicking off its first season on June 17, the show features 13 contestants as inmates and will be aired for three months on ETV Bangla. The show is being hosted by Mithun Chakraborty.

Here's a look at Bigg Boss Bangla's celebrity participants.

Sampurna Lahiri

A former pageant finalist, this 23-year-old starlet is presently creating waves in the Bengali film industry.

Lahiri made her acting debut on television with Star Jalsha's popular soap Tarey Ami Chokhey Dekhini while her big screen debut film was Nandita Roy and Shiboprosad Mukherjee-directed Accident in 2012.

Her other acting credits include Aniket Chattopadhaya's Goray Gandogol and Pratim Gupta's Paanch Adhyay.

Iris Maity

An established model from Kolkata, Maity, 33, won the fifth season of Channel [V]'s model hunt show Get Gorgeous.

The designated eye-candy in the house, Iris counts Varun Bahl and Manish Malhotra as her favourite designers and hopes to break in the Hindi film industry.

Koneenica Banerjee

A fixture on the Kolkata party scene and Bengali tabloids, this 33-year-old has acted in films like Maanbhanjan, Tomar Patho Cheye, Aasma and Notun Gaan.

She received the Anandalok Puroshkar of Critics Choice for Abar Ashibo Phire.

Sudipta Chakraborty

Actress Sudipta Chakraborty, 34, won a National Award for Best Supporting Actress and the Bengal Film Journalists' Association Award for Rituparno Ghosh's acclaimed 2000 film Bariwali.

Married to actor Rajesh Sharma -- who you may remember as Tito Mama from Luv Shuv Tey Chicken Khurana -- Chakraborty has appeared in several successful plays such as Kacher Dewal, Bikele Bhorer Shorshe Phool and Baghu Manna.

Mallika Majumdar

A rising actress, Mallika Majumdar's career-defining role came along in controversial filmmaker Q's Bissh, but her breakthrough performance was in the film Raat Porir Rupkatha, co-starring Jackie Shroff, Indrani Haldar, Rudranil Ghosh and Abir Goswami.

A former cookery show host, Majumdar is presently the anchor of a popular Bengali morning show titled Aaj Sakaler Amontrone.

Nandini Pal

The anchor of the first ever cookery show on Bengali television, Nandini Pal, 50, is married to yesteryear actor and member of Parliament, Tapas Paul.

Manabi Banerjee

Banerjee is a poet, author and professor who came in the public eye following her highly publiced sex change operation in 2003.

She has authored a bestselling novel titled Endless Bondage.

Rudranil Ghosh

Comedian-actor Rudranil Ghosh rose to fame with his 2006 film Refugee and routinely appears on hit Bengali television shows.

Ghosh has won several accolades for his films, including his negative role in Anjan Dutt's Byomkesh Bakshi.

His performance in Chaplin was widely appreciated too.

Vikram Chatterjee

A popular actor, Chatterjee rose to fame with his role in television show Saat Paake Bandha on Zee Bangla.

He's also won over critics with his performances in films like Mainak Bhowmik's Bedroom, Elar Char Adhyay, Mistake and Hoi Choi.

Aneek Dhar

Winner of Zee TV music reality show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa and Zee Bangla's Sa Re Ga Ma Pa, Dhar is the youngest celebrity on the show at 22.

He has sung for a number of Bengali movies such as Keno Mon Take Chaay, Jaa, Classmate, Warrant, Rang Milanti and has also done playback along side Shankar Mahadevan for Hindi film Bal Ganesh.

Abhijeet Pota Burman

A Bangla Rock veteran, Abhijeet Pota Burman is a former vocalist for popular band Cactus ever since its inception in 1992.

Cactus' self-titled debut album released in 1999 and was a huge hit. The band has performed in over 2,500 concerts around the country.

Kais Kalim

Former gym trainer Kais Kalim, who has helped several stars get in shape, tasted box office success with films like Love... Love... Love and Darling.

He's also featured in commercials and in TV shows including Chehra and Swayambar.

Mahesh Jalan

Fifty-year-old astrologer Mahesh Jalan is known for his astrology-based television shows.
