Newly-wed actress Genelia D'Souza will be seen mentoring 11 young girls on the TV show Lux The Chosen One. This is Genelia's second TV show after Big Switch.
Genelia will play mentor to the contestants, giving them style tips and helping to refine their dress sense, and also guiding them with personal motivational talk.
The girls are from five different cities of the country.
Lux The Chosen One is an official hunt for the face of UTV STARS. One celebrity guest will appear in each of the 10 episodes. Priyanka Chopra, Rana Duggubati, Shahid Kapoor, Parineeti Chopra and Arjun Kapoor are among them.
The show went on air from Saturday.
In this interview, Genelia talks about the show and why she chose to do it.
Why did you choose to do this particular show?
Lux The Chosen One is the perfect platform that I would have chosen to groom myself before I entered the industry.
Be it my ads or films, I have always played a girl who one can relate to and this show is like that too. I relate to those girls. I know how and where I can help them build themselves in this glamorous world of Bollywood.
What exactly is your role as a mentor in the show?
I am a friend, confidante and guide to the contestants on the show. I set them tasks and give them moral support as they complete the tasks. I am also a part of the elimination process.
What is the process like?
The 11 girls were chosen via five city auditions throughout India. They have been put up at a 5-star property where they will undergo training.
They will meet industry experts from fashion, grooming, actors etc every week and gain some knowledge from them.
At the end of each episode one girl will get eliminated on the basis of her task performance.
What does it takes to win a show of this kind?
It takes a combination of talent, ability with a zest for hard work. I am fascinated seeing new talent and fresh faces.
Being put to the test constantly before an audience isn't easy.
Can you give some grooming tips to our readers?
The best grooming tip is to be your natural best and not try to fake it.
Which medium, TV or films, do you like?
Films are my favourite. TV is also very exciting but it requires a lot of time at one go.
What has changed for you post marriage?
Nothing!! I kept hearing from people that things change so much post marriage, but it's the same good life, but now with a husband.
Are you doing any south Indian films?
Nothing as of now.
Any Hindi films in the pipeline?
As you know, I have only just got married, so Lux The Chosen One is my first project since then. I am looking forward at doing some great work once I am done with the show.
I do have a movie, Rock The Shaadi with Abhay Deol that I am waiting to complete shooting for soon.
