Preity Zinta is back on the small screen with a chat show called Up Close and Personal with PZ, on UTV Stars. It will premiere on September 3.
Preity will be chatting with celebrities about their journey via personal quizzes and career maps, prodding them to reveal dark secrets and hidden talents, and giving them impromptu tests on acting and dancing.
"My chat show is a positive fun show with lots of surprises. Actors have a certain image that is either created by the media or is cultured through their body of work. My aim in the show is to let viewers know the real stars. Since these are people I have known for long, the comfort level is great," says Preity.
Salman Khan is going to appear on her upcoming chat-show, which is being produced by SRK's Red Chillies Entertainment. Asked if she ever tried to patch things up between the two superstars, Salman and Shah Rukh Khan, she pleaded, "Please somebody save me from this question. Each one of us has an individual equation. This is really something beyond me or anybody else. Let's wait and watch."
Akshay Kumar, Shah Rukh Khan, Farhan Akhtar, Bobby Deol, Ajay Devgn, Ranbir Kapoor, Abhishek Bachchan, Hrithik Roshan and Saif Ali Khan are also lined up to appear on the show.
Did she take any tips from her friend Karan Johar, host of his own famous chat show?
"Not really. I anyway talk a lot and we have different ways of doing a chat show," she says.
After the break up with industrialist Ness Wadia, Preity was linked to a couple of cricketers, but her profession is her number one priority now.
"Right now I am concentrating only on my professional life. I don't have a personal life. I have stopped talking to anybody because I am scared that I might get linked to them. I have stopped talking to men. I tell them go away and please bring your wife along with you.
"Poor Brett Lee, he worked with us for three years and one time I was talking to him over dinner and I got linked to him. I wasn't even having dinner with him; I was with another friend. He happened to come along and said hello to me. I cannot tell him don't sit here because you are not in my team," she said.
Preity returns to acting in Ishqkk in Paris produced by her company PZMZ Media. She will seal the script of her home production in October. "I am an actor first and at the end of the day, that's what I love doing the most. I have been away because of my IPL commitments, but now I'm back and it feels awesome," she said.
About the ongoing anti-corruption movement she says she is keen to fight corruption but has personal reasons for not doing so publicly.
"I had a scary experience during the World Cup finals in Wankhede stadium in April. I got scratches all over my neck as everyone was pouncing on one another. I have been avoiding mass public gatherings. That's the reason I'm not physically attending Anna Hazare's campaign against corruption," she explained.
She adds, "Having said that, even if I'm not standing besides Anna Sahib in person, my support will always be there with him."
