Ten Things You Didn't Know About Spider-Man - II

As the eagerly-awaited The Amazing Spider-Man release date draws closer, we bring you the second batch of trivia about the web-slinging superhero.

1. The youngest superhero

Spidey is the among the youngest A-list superheroes.

While Mr Fantastic, Iron Man and the senior members of the X-Men are all at least in their 40s, Peter Parker is a sprightly and constantly stressed 20-something.

2. Spidey's vital stats

Peter Parker is 5'10" tall, weighs 165 lbs, has brown hair and hazel-brown eyes.

3. His Spidey-Sense

Contrary to popular belief, Peter's Spidey-Sense does not give him any extra awareness or instinct.

It is just a highly effective warning signal alerting him to danger coming his way.

4. Peter clones

In one of the most controversial Spider-Man storylines called The Clone Saga, Peter was cloned by an evil geneticist called Miles Warren, The Jackal.

Several Peter clones -- Ben Reilly, Kaine, Spidercide, etc -- were created by this experiment.

5. Gifting Spidey powers

A few months ago, in an event called Spider-Island, The Jackal gave every New Yorker the same powers as Spidey.

6. The new Spider-Man

Andrew Garfield, who plays Spidey in The Amazing Spider-Man, has always been a huge fan of the character.

He even dressed as Spidey for Halloween when he was three.

7. The superhero suit

Costume designer Kym Barett wanted an athletic suit for Spider-Man in the new film, and created a suit imagining "what would happen if a spiderweb was being blown by the wind and wrapped itself around the body."

8. Costume woes

It took Andrew Garfield 20 minutes -- and an assistant -- to put on the Spider suit for filming.

9. Identity crisis?

In the very first issue of Amazing Spider-Man, Stan Lee mistakenly referred to Peter as "Peter Palmer" for two panels.

10. Spider-Super-Man

And it just gets better! In Amazing Spider-Man #3, Doc Octopus actually calls Spidey 'Super-Man" once.
