YRF boss Aditya Chopra may have preferred a low-key wedding for himself, but Yash Raj Films are known to host lavish shaadis in their movies.

Mere Brother Ki Dulhan

Continuing their non-conformist approach, the Chopras explored an untouched subject, that of a man falling in love with his brother's fiancée in Mere Brother Ki Dulhan.

It could have gone totally haywire, if not for the light-hearted treatment that first-time director Ali Abbas Zafar gave it.

With Imran Khan, Katrina Kaif and Ali Zafar coming up with believable acts, audience didn't quite mind this shaadi, which broke quite a few norms.

Shuddh Desi Romance

A lot of time was dedicated to weddings but ironically, no one actually got married here!

First, Sushant Singh Rajput breaks off his marriage with Vaani Kapoor.

Later, Parineeti Chopra does the same with Sushant.

Parineeti and Sushant do live happily ever after but garlands are never exchanged -- a first for a Yash Raj film.

Band Baaja Baaraat

With a title like this, it's imperative that the movie has a lot of band, baaja and baraat.

Wedding planners -- Anushka Sharma and Ranveer Singh -- plan many lavish weddings, and finally, fall in love themselves.

Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi

Seldom does one see a woman get disappointed about getting married to Shah Rukh Khan (even if it's on screen!)

But Anushka Sharma's Taani couldn't believe her bad luck when she found herself exchanging garlands reluctantly with her nerdy husband.

Aditya Chopra went backwards, by making the couple get married first, and then fall in love.

Salaam Namaste

Saif Ali Khan and Preity Zinta's Salaam Namaste brought some freshness in cinema, when they explored the theme of live-in relationships in the film.

While they didn't get married themselves, they did attend some cool weddings in the film.

Hum Tum

They could well have got married in the first few minutes of the film. After all, Saif Ali Khan and Rani Mukerji looked very good together, despite the occasional 'nok-jhonk'.

But a Yash Raj film needs to have its element of drama as well, which meant that the couple separated, only to meet again after the death of Rani's husband (Abhishek Bachchan).

Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai

If Mere Brother Ki Dulhan was about a man falling in love with his brother's fiancée, Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai was about a man (Uday Chopra) going all out to stop his friend's wedding (Tulip Joshi), who was getting married to another man (Jimmy Shergill).

The film had set the stage for extended wedding celebrations, with the 'chacha-chachi', 'mama-mami' and uncle-aunty.

Chandni

One of Chandni's best songs was Mere Haathon Mein, the song that Sridevi sings at the sangeet ceremony of a cousin.

Since then, this song is a must for most sangeet celebrations.

Silsila

Amitabh Bachchan's character is forced to marry Jaya, the pregnant girlfriend of his late friend, Shashi Kapoor in Silsila.

As he applies sindoor on her forehead, he secretly pines for the love of his life, Rekha.

And the stage is set for the film's iconic song, Rang Barse.

Daag: A Poem of Love

Rajesh Khanna got married to not one, but two women in Daag: A Poem Of Love.

Co-starring Sharmila Tagore and Rakhee, the film dealt with the social taboo of bigamy.

Of course, the refrain here was about the hero being 'halaat se majboor' but it was rather bold of Yash Chopra to go for it.
