Rajesh Khanna, was born and brought up in Mumbai by his foster parents, who were his biological parents' relatives, in Charni Road, south Mumbai.
His first house, presumably unoccupied, still bears the name plate of his adoptive father -- Chunnilal Khanna.
After he achieved fame as a superstar actor in Hindi films, he acquired a magnificent sea-facing bungalow called Ashirwad off Carter Road in western suburb of the city.
The superstar grew up in Thakurdwar near Girgaon and attended the St Sebastian's Goan High School with friend Ravi Kapoor, who grew up to become Jeetendra.
This is the building in which he lived.
After he achieved fame and got married, he shifted to Ashirwad, a bungalow on Carter Road, Bandra. It was then named Dimple after his then wife.
He'd bought the property from Rajendra Kumar, the late Hindi film actor.
