PIX: Bollywood's favourite hangouts in Mumbai

When it comes to partying or just unwinding with friends, Bollywood celebs know how to do it in style. Several upscale lounges and restaurants in Mumbai have been identified as celebs' favourite hangout spots.

We bring here some of the most popular places from around the city that our swish filmi set frequents:

When it was time to wrap up his upcoming film Ra.One, Shah Rukh Khan decided to celebrate the occasion at one of the hippest joints in Mumbai -- Escobar in Bandra. Quite popular among Mumbaikars who just love to party in style, this place boasts of having the longest bar in the country that runs along 77 feet!

Now who wouldn't love THAT!

Hakkasan, Bandra

Hakkasan, the famous Chinese restaurant from London that opened as recently as this June in Bandra, has become a hip spot for celebs and Mumbai's upwardly mobile crowd.

The place is made up of a restaurant area, the Ling Ling Lounge and a 15-seater private dining room. The lounge, that is a drinking-dining place, boasts of a 16-metre back-lit blue glass and stainless steel bar identical to the one at the chain's flagship restaurant in London.

No wonder then that Katrina Kaif was intent on celebrating her birthday with friends at this seductive new joint.

Veda Restaurant, Lounge and Bar, Lower Parel

Veda Restaurant and Bar is located in one of the hottest spots in town -- Palladium Mall in Lower Parel. Owned by celebrated designer Rohit Bal and acclaimed chef Suvir Saran, the place boasts of sojme fine Indian delicacies.

And turns out, celebs love throwing birthday bashes at Veda. Manayata Dutt celebrated hers and Ameesha threw her brother Ashmit a party at this joint.

China House, Grand Hyatt, Santacruz

China House in Santa Cruz is popular among its patrons for serving lip-smacking Peking Duck, Beggar's Chicken and Dan Dan noodles. With its focus on Sichuan dishes, China House has got it right down pat.

With a natable chef and an impressive wine and beer list, this place is a hit with Bollywood celebs too. Saif Ali Khan and Bipasha Basu are regulars.

Bombay Baking Company, J W Marriott, Juhu

J W Marriott's cake shop and leisure area Bombay Baking Company is ideal for conversations over hot cappuccino and freshly baked goodies.

The wonderful aroma of brewed coffee and warm croissants attract book lovers and young people catching up with friends and Bollywood fraternity clearly loves this hangout spot.

Shekhar Kapur, Karisma and Kareena Kapoor, Twinkle Khanna, Tabu, Himesh Reshammiya and many others frequent this place.

Mezzo Mezzo, J W Marriott, Juhu

The fine dining experience takes a whole new meaning with Mezzo Mezzo. It's to-die-for wood-fired pasta and ravioli and a cozy ambience are hits with patrons and the cozy atmosphere ideal for romantic dates.

This sea-facing retaurant is also large group-friendly and often feted as one of the best italian restaurants in the city.

The film fraternity seems to concur too. The Khans, the Bachchans, and Sanjay Dutt are its esteemed patrons.

Poison, Bandra

Arguably one of India's best discotheques, Poison is credited with bringing some of the most popular DJs in the world to town.

Previously owned by Mr and Mrs Shilpa Shetty, the place now belongs to Sohail Khan and the Khan family, obviously, is a regular fixture there.

Other celebs who swear by this poison include Zayed Khan and wife Mallika, Fardeen Khan and wife Natasha, DJ Aqeel and family.

 

Zenzi, Bandra

Zenzi, the popular Bandra restaurant and lounge frequented by models, expats and artists.

The classic yet contemporary atmosphere provides the perfect ambience for lively conversation or even a leisurely evening with friends and closed ones.

Dino Morea, Kelly Dorjee, Sameera Reddy, Lilette Dubey, Vivek Oberoi, Tanushree Dutta and many more filmi personalities are often seen hanging out here.

 

Mangi Ferra, Ville Parle

This slightly expensive Italian restaurant is another place that serves a mean Italian spread. The bar is well stocked and regulars opine that it's manned by a great bartender too.

The spacious restaurant is done in a minimalist fashion and draws huge crowds.

Ram Gopal Varma, Manisha Koirala and Mandira Bedi are among the regulars who swear by Mangi Ferra.

Aurus, Juhu

A fine-dining restaurant and lounge bar on the beachfront in Juhu, what else could one possibly ask for!

Aurus is frequented by many celebs and is popular for its modern European Cuisine and Friday Night Bar. Fashion designer Rocky S, Preity Zinta and Karan Johar are regulars here.

Also, Arpita Khan celebrated her birthday here this year.

Prive, Colaba

The super-luxe nighclub is redefines exclusive. It is open to the general public only on Wednesdays making it the place to be seen at on other nights.

Bollywood royalty, though, visits this place quite often. Shah Rukh Khan, Sameera Reddy and Rahul Bose are popular faces spotted here.

Olive Bar and Kitchen, Pali Hill

This is, by far, the most popular hangout spot for our celebrities. Zayed Khan, Dino Morea, Shaan, DJ Aqueel, Zayed Khan, Fardeen Khan, Preity Zinta, Kareena Kapoor, Shahid Kapur and a whole bunch of others are spotted every now and then.

Arbaaz Khan recently celebrated his birthday here.

The official website describes the place as a rustic hideaway where good food, laughter, culture and conversation come together in a delightful Mediterranean melting pot.

 

Cafe Basilico Bistro And Deli, Pali Naka

This Bistro, owned by actress Ayesha Takia, is as hot as they come. According to a frequent visitor and a fan, "This is one of the few places where you can eat anything from a sandwich to a pasta to a Morrocon dish and all of them would be rich in essence and quality."

Understandably, Aamir Khan and wife Kiran Rao, Karan Johar and Perizaad Zorabian are regulars.

Indigo, Colaba

With a mouth-watering brunch and buffet menu, this place is ideal for people-watching.

Wasabi, Colaba

Another waterfront plush retaurant, Wasabi is frequented by Preity Zinta, Bobby Deol, Arjun Rampal, Vidya Balan.

Word is, it serves the best Japanese cuisine in the city.
